Special Note:

This elective is available only to fourth year students applying for a pathology residency.

Description:

Medical students will spend a month rotating through various anatomic pathology subspecialties. Students will participate in sign out sessions for surgical pathology and cytopathology and will have the opportunity to observe and practice grossing and frozen sections. Students will observe and participate in autopsies as available. Opportunities to participate in clinical pathology activities will be available based on student interest. Participation in a quality improvement or other research project is expected. A final presentation is required. 

Method of Evaluation:

Attendance, daily and overall performance, research project participation, evaluation of final presentation.

Grading will be pass/fail effective May 2026.
